How Does the Height Prediction Calculator Work?

The 5iTech calculator provides two complementary estimates. The Khamis-Roche method uses age, sex, current height, current weight and mid-parental height. The parents-only method estimates a target adult height from the heights of both parents.

🎯 Khamis-Roche Method

The published method predicts adult stature without skeletal age using age- and sex-specific regression coefficients for current height, current weight and mid-parental height.

Predicted adult height = Bβ‚€ + b₁ Γ— child height + bβ‚‚ Γ— child weight + b₃ Γ— mid-parent height

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Mid-Parental Height

A simple target-height estimate based on both parents’ heights.

Girl: (Father + Mother βˆ’ 13 cm) Γ· 2

How Tall Will My Child Be?

No calculator can guarantee an exact final adult height. Genetics, growth pattern, health, nutrition, hormones and puberty timing can all affect the result.

Height Prediction From Parents

Parents’ heights are an important indicator of genetic height potential. The mid-parental method provides a central target rather than a guaranteed final height.

How Accurate Is the Khamis-Roche Method?

The original Khamis-Roche study was developed from healthy white American children in the Fels Longitudinal Study and the authors explicitly note that applicability is limited to that population and to children without pathological conditions affecting growth. The published method is therefore best presented as a statistical estimate, not a universal clinical prediction. ξˆ€citeξˆ‚turn199625search0

Factors That Can Affect Adult Height

  • Genetic inheritance
  • Nutrition and general health
  • Puberty timing
  • Hormonal and endocrine function
  • Chronic medical conditions
  • Normal individual variation in growth

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a height prediction calculator?
It is a tool that estimates potential adult height from current child measurements and/or parental heights. The result is an estimate, not a guarantee.
What age can I use for the Khamis-Roche calculator?
This implementation accepts ages from 4.0 to 17.5 years and interpolates between the published half-year coefficient rows.
Can I calculate adult height using only my parents’ heights?
Yes. Use the Parents Only tab for the mid-parental target-height calculation.
How tall will my child be as an adult?
The calculator gives a statistical estimate. Actual adult height can differ from the prediction.
Does the calculator store my child’s information?
The calculations are performed in the browser and no account is required.
Is this height calculator medical advice?
No. It is an educational calculator. Growth concerns should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.
Important: This tool is for educational and informational purposes. The Khamis-Roche model has population-specific limitations and is not a diagnosis or a substitute for professional medical assessment.
