Understanding Statistical Measures
Statistical analysis helps us understand data distributions and central tendencies. Our calculator provides instant results for four fundamental statistical measures:
What is the Mean?
The mean (or average) is calculated by summing all values and dividing by the number of values. It represents the central value of a dataset. Formula: Mean = Σx / n
What is the Median?
The median is the middle value when data points are arranged in ascending order. For an even number of values, it’s the average of the two middle numbers. The median is less affected by outliers than the mean.
What is the Mode?
The mode is the most frequently occurring value in a dataset. A dataset may have one mode, multiple modes, or no mode at all if all values are unique.
What is the Range?
The range measures the spread of data and is calculated as the difference between the highest and lowest values. Formula: Range = Max – Min
